Cotton of Turkmenistan

Harvesting is starting soon

Harvesting is planned to start around mid August, mainly concentrated in the southern regions and later in early September to begin in the northern regions. 

Planned volume of the harvest this season remains unchanged at 1,050,000 tons of seed cotton from which: Medium Staple 980,000 tons and about 70,000 tons ELS. After ginning expected output should be MS 285,000 tons and about 20,000 tons ELS.

Local mill consumption is estimated to be around 60,000 tons and will be allocated from the Ministry of Agriculture up to the end of 2017.

This year a large number of combined machines were purchased from Germany and Uzbekistan for harvesting and also a large number of defoliants were purchased to process the fields before the machine assembly.

All ginning plants are reported to be fully operative ready for the arrival of seed cotton from the fields.
